Make a decision (as a couple) about which of the items on this list is most important to each of you. The dress, the location, and the photographs are typically the primary focuses of a bride's attention, although she typically has a good idea of where she wants to get married. In light of this fact, you should set aside from your total budget the amounts that you consider to be necessary to spend on those two areas in order to achieve the best possible result that is in accordance with your 'wants.'

This will provide you with an idea of what is left over in terms of all those other things, and you should concentrate your efforts in terms of saving money on those other things. It's not that you won't be able to save money on your dress or the location of the wedding; on the contrary, you absolutely can! On the other hand, the things for which you have the least amount of available money will motivate you to think of the most creative solutions.

How to Limit the Number of Guests

Invite only those closest to you

You should invite your closest friends and family members who live in the area, and you should let anyone else who might be interested know that while you would be grateful if they could make it, the event will be a small and personal one. If refusing people's requests makes you feel awkward or embarrassed, make sure that news of your wedding doesn't spread beyond the circle of invited guests.

It may seem harsh, but excluding plus ones and children who are not members of the bridal party helps keep costs down. This is because you are not catering to people you do not know who may or may not show up at the event.

Streaming in Real Time

Those guests who are unable to attend the wedding or who you are unable to include on the guest list should be able to watch a live stream of the event. This practice gained popularity during the COVID19 pandemic, when guests at wedding parties were required to adhere to restrictions on number, social distance, and other factors. It is a fantastic method for including individuals who are unable to physically attend the event.

low cost wedding venues

How to save money on wedding venues

Backyard, garden wedding

It goes without saying that you are only able to accomplish this task if you possess the required amount of space. If you want to have your wedding reception in a garden, you will have to pay more money because you will need to make preparations for both good weather and bad weather. These preparations will include providing shelter, possibly heating the area, and waterproofing the area. Only if you have enough room inside in addition to space outside in the yard.

A wedding reception in a garden, complete with a barbecue, a pig roast, or a potluck, is an excellent way to cut costs while also having a lot of fun and being in a laid-back frame of mind.

We have a detailed, helpful free Budget Rustic Wedding Planning Guide HERE

Your local pub, church, or community center

They might have a meeting room available.

It is possible to rent space for a wedding reception at a wide variety of locations throughout most communities, and the costs associated with doing so are not prohibitively high, particularly if you are willing to take care of your own floral arrangements.

Pay a visit to a neighborhood bar in which customers are required to pay for their own drinks.

You could negotiate a deal with your local bar and restaurant landlord to create a space for you, which they will be more than happy to do given all of the additional business that will be coming their way. This would allow you to avoid the expense of renting a space. After that, each guest is responsible for providing their own libations and hors d'oeuvres.

Make sure that your wedding takes place during the week and not during the peak wedding season.

If you follow these steps, you will be able to save a significant amount of money on wedding venues. If you plan your wedding for a less common time of day, weekday, or month of the year, you may be able to realize savings of up to fifty percent on the overall cost of the ceremony and reception combined. Before making a reservation, you should make sure that you have read their terms and conditions, and that any fee that was quoted will remain the same regardless of how the date changes!!

Hold a combined wedding ceremony.

Consider getting married alongside another couple in a shared ceremony. This could work out really well for both of you and cut both of your costs in half if you and the other couple get along really well. If you happen to have many of the same friends and family members, that is ideal because it will make it easier to manage the guest list for both weddings. Your guests will be thankful that they do not have to pay the expenses associated with attending two weddings thanks to you.

Eloping is becoming increasingly popular as a wedding option for couples, and it is no longer viewed with the same level of social disapproval as it was in the past. You are not obligated to hold the wedding reception until you return to your hometown.

Have your wedding at your dream location.

If you select a package deal for your destination wedding, and have your guests pay for their own travel and lodging, you may be able to reduce the overall cost of the event. If you do not go on a honeymoon after the wedding, you will avoid spending money on one.

Over at Zazzle, we offer a huge selection of wedding invitations and matching items, starting at just $0.28 each, and our customers' reviews speak for themselves regarding the quality and affordability of our products.

You could choose not to send paper or card wedding invitations and instead send invitations via social media, email, or text message instead. This is a cutting-edge approach that has no financial or environmental impact.

Handmade Invitations for Weddings

On the other hand, there are a lot of great tutorials for Do It Yourself favors on YouTube. Investigate them as a means of learning how to make them at a low cost. In comparison to those that are pre-ordered, wedding invitations that are created by the bride and groom themselves offer the benefit of being highly personalized and one-of-a-kind. Your guests will appreciate the thought and the gesture that much more because of how much effort you put into it.

Choose a straightforward pattern and have the text printed out if you do not have a lot of experience with handicrafts. Be sure to thoroughly check your work for spelling errors! Poor spelling is a blatant giveaway that an amateur is responsible for the work!

Invitations printed with your personal information

Zazzle is yet another website that offers reasonably priced and personalized wedding invitations. They may not appear to be inexpensive at first glance, but Zazzle frequently holds mega sales with discounts of up to fifty percent, so if you keep an eye out for those sales, you can save money on this site.

Wedding fashion does evolve from year to year and season to season, but the shifts aren't that radical. Therefore, it is possible to acquire a wedding dress during an off-season sale or a closing down sale that will still be considered fashionable when the time comes for your wedding, and the same is true for the majority of the other items as well. Think about selling wedding decorations (that won't go bad if they're stored), wedding invitations and stationery, and job-lots of favors and accessories on websites such as eBay.

Beautiful Future Brides, this is all I have time for right now! Please feel free to add to these wedding budget tips and advice in the comments section below, as well as share any stories you have about how you saved money.

How to save money on wedding food

  1. Reduce to a bare minimum the number of people who are on your guest list.
  2. A buffet can be served in place of a meal that has been pre-set.
  3. Prepare your own meals, and if you know any friends or family members who are good cooks, enlist their help! Even though it's served buffet-style, a traditional meal can still be enjoyed at a table. Ensure that everything is well-organized to prevent people from becoming hungry while waiting in long lines and to prevent food from running out. Check to see that there are sufficient chairs and tables for everyone who will be attending.
  4. If you want to save money on the cost of the tableware that will be provided by the venue, you should bring your own disposable tableware.
  5. If you're throwing a party with a bar, you should let your guests buy their own drinks and pay for them themselves. This is something that I have done at every wedding that I have attended, and I find it to be completely acceptable and something that I anticipate doing.
  6. Plan a wedding in the style of a potluck, in which each guest brings a dish to share. You have the option of specifying the type of food, which will give you an idea of what to anticipate. Create a list similar to a gift registry from which guests can choose what they would like to contribute to ensure that there are no duplicates. In addition to that, it is imperative that proper procedures for food hygiene be followed.

How to save money on wedding flowers

budget wedding flowers

I made the floral centerpieces for the reception tables myself, and I was able to recycle the flower arrangements that were left over from an earlier wedding reception that I had attended. I wasn't concerned with making sure everything was consistent, so I just accepted what was offered to me. If you go this route, you should make sure that you have done some practice runs first so that you are familiar with what you are doing and which flowers will work the best. You have a lot of room for innovation when you decorate with a rustic theme; some examples include utilizing glass jars as vases and stringing LED lights together.

Artificial Flowers

Silk, paper, and even rubber are just some of the modern-day substitutes for real flowers that can achieve an appearance that is visually comparable to that of their natural counterparts. Additionally, they have a longer shelf life and need less planning in terms of timing and storage space. You can save even more money on your subsequent trip to the store if you make these on your own by following a tutorial on YouTube.

Other options besides flowers

As well as dried flower arrangements, pampas grass is currently seeing a surge in popularity as a decoration option for wedding bouquets and centerpieces. You can acquire these things over the course of the year by going to secondhand stores and browsing the used goods section of Facebook Marketplace. In wedding groups, it is common for brides to sell off their own decorations at bargain prices; keep in mind that these decorations have only been used once. After you have finished using them, you can, of course, resell them to someone else.

22 more ways to save money on your budget wedding

  2. Instead of serving dessert, set up your own dessert or sweets station.
  3. Don't drink or ask guests to pay for their own or bring a bottle of alcohol; alcohol is expensive, but unless you're a teetotaller, no alcohol is a no-no!
  4. Instead of the traditional tiered wedding cake, consider a cupcake tower with a main topper.
  5. Instead of wedding save the dates and RSVPs, guests can be informed of the date via social media, text, and phone, and can RSVP via phone or email. Wedding invitations can be purchased for as little as 0.28 each from Zazzle, details HERE.
  6. Instead of a fancy wedding reception venue, consider a community hall, sports hall library, family function room at a local church, or, if the weather permits, a backyard in the garden.
  7. Provide your own catering, such as a potluck, BBQ, or cold buffet.
  8. Allow music to be streamed while skipping live entertainment and the DJ. You could organize karaoke, which is a fun and informal activity.
  9. Instead of champagne, serve regular house wine as a toast.
  10. Save money on photos by having a friend or family member step forward and ask guests to share their photos with you after the wedding using a hashtag.
  11. Keep your guest list small; not allowing plus ones or children can aid in this but can also cause drama.
  12. Purchase inexpensive wedding bands that you can later replace with something more expensive. Maybe on an anniversary or a vow renewal.
  13. Consider renting or purchasing used wedding attire. or through an online retailer like Amazon. View our hand-picked budget wedding gown recommendations here
  14. 15. Avoid hiring a wedding planner; with our helpful guides and the assistance of a friend, you can do it yourself. See if you can find someone to help you coordinate on the big day.

  16. Request that bridesmaids wear their own dresses in a color theme or contribute to the cost.
  17. Ask a friend or family member to officiate your wedding. You can now easily qualify for this through a variety of online sources.
  18. If you're having an outdoor wedding, request that guests bring a chair! It saves money on hiring them.
  19. Book your wedding outside of season; winter weddings are often less expensive, as are weekday weddings.
  20. Consider reselling your wedding items after the event to recoup some of your expenses. On Facebook Marketplace, you can also find a lot of used wedding bargains.
  21. Rather than hiring a car, have a family member drive you and decorate their car yourself.
  22. Combine wedding ceremony and venue. By having them in the same place you save money on two venues as well as transport between the two.

How to lower Wedding Party Costs - Attire/Gifts

Members of the wedding party may include, but are not limited to, bridesmaids, maids of honor, the mother of the bride, groomsmen, the best man, the father of the bride, flower girls, and father of the bride.

There is an endless list of expenses, such as getting the ladies' outfits, shoes, grooming, hair, and makeup done, as well as gifts for the ladies after the event. Keeping your bridal party small or eliminating it entirely is the most efficient way to cut costs when it comes to your wedding, so do what you can to do that.

If you have a large number of family members and friends who are interested in attending the celebration, it is possible that this won't be feasible. Therefore, what action should we take? You should let your bridal party know that you are working with a limited budget and that you intend to keep things as straightforward and classy as possible. Explain to them that you will not be able to buy their outfits for them, but that they should think about wearing something that fits into the color scheme that you have planned for the bridal party in order for them to be able to take their place in it.

This request is not unreasonable as long as you are not telling them what to wear (aside from the color scheme), as they will almost certainly buy something to wear to your wedding regardless of whether or not you want them to do so. They will be opting out of the bridal party if they are unable to do so, which will put an end to the whole "we want to be in it" situation!!

In some cases, you may be able to save money by purchasing previously worn bridal party attire; however, it may be challenging to locate a set of garments that is suitable for the members of your bridal party.

How to save money on a Wedding Dress

Preloved, still white. handed down

Clothing that has only been worn once and has been cleaned by a professional can be purchased at a price that is up to 75% less than the price at which it was originally sold. If you go this route, make sure to give yourself plenty of time to find the ideal dress and set aside a small amount of money in case you need to have your dress altered. If you decide to go this route, it is important that you do both.

There are a large number of Facebook groups, Facebook Marketplaces, eBay lists, and other online resources, in addition to thrift stores and charity shops, that sell stunning previously worn wedding dresses.

Online Sellers - Amazon

If you buy your wedding dress online, you can make significant financial savings (no fittings). It appears from the feedback I've seen so far on Facebook groups about online dresses that, while the bride is delighted, the dress is often not quite like the promotional photo, so make sure you read the reviews and keep your expectations realistic! If you're shopping for a dress online, keep in mind that the bride may be delighted, but the dress may not look exactly like the photo! First and foremost, check to see that the measurements you submit to them are accurate. As Amazon Influencers, we have hand-curated a list of budget-priced wedding dresses with good reviews - check them out carefully.

There is always a chance that a member of your family or a close friend will be willing to lend you their wedding dress for free, the only expense being the cost of having it professionally cleaned after the big day.

DIY - Make it Yourself

If you have the skills necessary, there is no reason why not. I just recently came across a stunning wedding dress that the bride had crocheted all by herself! It was breathtaking in every sense of the word. However, the majority of us do not have those abilities; however, if you do, it is something that should definitely be taken into consideration, and what a wonderful sentimental keepsake that would be.

Prom Dress

The price of prom dresses is typically much lower than that of wedding gowns, and they have an appearance that is very comparable to that of bridal gowns.

Throw a get-together for crafting

You do not need to be creative in order to participate; rather, you can enlist the assistance of crafty friends and family members. You can easily enlist the assistance of your creative friends for your do-it-yourself wedding projects by throwing a crafting party. This event, which is comparable to a wedding shower but has a different theme, is a great way to celebrate your upcoming nuptials. Bring in your friends, organize a space, supply wedding crafting materials, a workspace, and refreshments (but don't provide any alcoholic beverages; you don't want the fixings to get messed up or drinks to spill!)

DIY Centerpieces and Table Decorations for Your Wedding that You Can Create Yourself

Mason jars or recycled jam jars are popular choices for wedding decorations in 2022 and 2023. These jars can either be filled with small strings of LED lights or tea lights. Mason jars can also be recycled. You could also use pebbles and shells to create the look of a beach, or you could create a more straightforward arrangement by using water and a candle that floats in it, or you could use artificial flowers made of silk, wood, or plastic. There is a very wide variety of selections available.

The jars themselves may be decorated with a variety of embellishments, including ribbon, glitter, burlap, lace, and other materials. You can make your own centerpieces out of these jars and use them at an outdoor wedding, or you can hang them from the ceiling or trees (carefully).

You can also find one-of-a-kind vases at thrift stores, which is a great option if you like to decorate in a country or shabby chic style.

Make centerpieces out of teacups filled with candy or flowers, or turn the teacup into a home-made candle holder by filling it with an incandescent candle and some wax. You can find some very inexpensive pretty china at thrift stores that you can use to make cake stands (dinner plates for this), and centerpieces out of teacups filled with candy or flowers. In addition to the most popular craft materials, which can be used to make your own unique table decorations.

Make Use Of Antique and Vintage Bottles

Old vintage perfumes in glass bottles can be purchased for a reasonable price at thrift stores, carboot sales, and charity shops, in addition to online retailers such as Amazon (image). Create a one-of-a-kind centerpiece for your table by stuffing them with flower petals, colored sand, dried flowers, and colored liquid.

A modest and understated rustic wedding table decoration could be as easy as a spray of cherry blossoms placed in a glass bottle and then filled with sand. The sand, rather than the water, provides the bottle with additional weight, which in turn increases its stability. You can coordinate the look of the sand at your wedding by using colored sand.

To further enhance the look of a rustic wedding, you could also incorporate lace and burlap ribbon into the decor. You can add even more of a personal touch by creating custom gift tags or stickers.

Bottles that have been decorated using decoupage These painted and decorated bottles look great, and you can make them yourself! Use any bottle you have, some thin gift wrap that you have torn into pieces, and paper glue (PVA) to create a lovely vintage decoupage wedding table decoration.

For a one-of-a-kind take on a rustic wedding table decoration, write on old bottles that have been painted with chalkboard paint and then set them out on the table. Alternate the color of the glass bottles and add single stems to create a straightforward yet sophisticated decoration for the wedding table.

Stunning blue bottles with white flowers and pearls will make an excellent table decoration for beach or blue themed weddings because of their combination of colors and themes.

Inquire about the possibility of them tying a ribbon around it and transporting you on the specific date in question. Make an offer to cover any costs associated with cleaning, as well as any other expenses that may arise, such as fuel costs, etc.

How to save money on wedding cake

The following are some advantages of having cupcake towers at weddings:

  1. Wedding cupcake towers and arrangements can be adaptable with regard to number of guests rsvps.
  2. It is possible to replace individual cakes without negatively impacting the overall presentation of the confections.
  3. There are no duties that require "cutting and wrapping in napkins."

Family and close friends

Be aware that this person will not want to spend the majority of their time (despite the fact that it is your day) taking photos, and they may not take the photos you want them to take; as a result, even if you rely on a friend or family member to take your wedding photos and videography, DO try to have an element of the organization agreed with them beforehand, re what group photos you want them to take, and DO try to have an element of the organization agreed with them beforehand, re what group photos.

Wedding Hashtag

Create an online presence for your wedding by inviting all of your guests to upload the wedding photos they took on the big day to Facebook. This will help you build an online presence for your wedding. You can rest assured that there will be a few that surprise you in a wonderful way and are worthy of being included in your wedding album. Picking your favorites, saving them, and then uploading them to a website such as SnapFish in order to print them at a low cost is totally doable! Make sure you can find everyone by using a wedding hashtag. To ensure that your guests are aware of your preferences in advance, you should consider displaying a sign at your wedding that includes your hashtag.

Photographer in school, open for new clients and off-peak hours

Booking a student photographer, a qualified new business owner, or booking outside of the peak season will all result in lower photographer rates than booking a seasoned professional photographer or a business owner with a well-established reputation, and booking outside of the peak season will, of course, be less expensive.

Photographing an Engagement

There has been a recent trend among engaged couples to have a photo shoot prior to the wedding in order to create engagement photos, which they then use for their save the dates or as a memento of their engagement. You'll find some photos of couples here, as well as some great location ideas to use as motivation for your own engagement photo shoot.
